I definitely don't miss waiting in the lines. There was a gift shop on Ramstein that had Beanies. There would be lines outside their door, waiting for them to open because they were supposed to have the German exclusives that day. They had glass doors, so they could see the long line, and they knew exactly why people were there. They'd open the doors at 9 and NOT have the exclusives. Why couldn't just tell us that an hour before they opened???

I live in a small town population 2000 and we had a ty retailer who would call when the shipment came in and it was a rush to see who could get to the store first and then into a very long lineup to pay for your treasures

I'm so far out of the loop. When I stopped collecting, I think the newest thing was the Ty Kids. What's come along since then?

Im ashamed to admit this and if it is ever repeated I will deny it!
I got a phone call from a friend of mine who was at the mall. She said the Elmtree store just got a large shipment of Beanies. I had to FLY and I mean fly to the store, get my Beanies and get home before the kids came. I looked down and I was going 70, I truly believe that w as the fastest I have ever driven. |

I remember.. I was so lucky to be on the other side of the door. I remember passing out chocolates to the people in line. I remember pulling up to the store & not having a place to park, so that I could go inside & open the door. I remember telling the collectors that I was going to take the day off unless they helped me carry the boxes of Beanies inside & lol, they did :-). What I remember most is the laughter and friendship of people who bonded over Beanies.

I met so many people who shared my love of beanies. The thrill of finding a place that was going to put them out and limit your purchase of the newbies to one (if you were lucky enough to be there early). I started when Princess was new and elusive. It took me a while to finally track one down at a reasonable price but she is still one of my all time favorites.

I remember when some new releases arrived at a local mall, where there were 4 different ty retailers. When one store ran out of them, we all ran to another....other shoppers joined in the chase..not even knowing what we were running for! lol
I figure I got more exercise...usually FAST walking from store to store...than any other time! lol I used to joke, Beanie Collecting should be classed as a Sport! lol Love: Karen |

Yep, the thrill of the hunt is what kept me going. And hunt I did. I think I spent more for gas than I did for Beanies. My entire Beanie career was in Germany, and gas is expensive over there!

When I did start I could never find anything in the stores, even when new intros came out it was fastert to buy online.
I spent a lot of time in the beginning going store to store. By the time the stores got anything it was mostly a month later than online. Geraldine |

I'm not sure what she is doing these days but my guess would be taking care of her children. She was a nice lady!
